ANCCE Organizes a Visit to the PRE Stud Book and Molecular Genetics Laboratory to Introduce the Range of Activities Generated by Spanish Horses

ANCCE has organized a visit for journalists from major media outlets in Andalusia—whether written or audiovisual journalism—to the Purebred Spanish Horse Stud Book office and the Molecular Genetics Laboratory.  Guests were provided with first-hand information about the characteristics and efforts undertaken at both of these ANCCE divisions.

This initiative included a guided tour led by Jose Juan Morales, President of ANCCE, with Arancha Rodriguez, the Stud Book Director and Pedro J. Azor, the Assistant Director and Technical Director of the PRE Breeding Program. Journalists visited the Official Purebred Spanish Horse Stud Book (LG PRE ANCCE) office where they were shown the various services provided and the process implemented when identifying horses. At the Molecular Genetics Lab, the group saw the blood and DNA samples, while learning about the specialized equipment used in the various laboratory processes. Likewise, they were provided with data about the progress of an innovative project by the GO EQUIGENOM group, which is based on the development of an economic chip for parentage verification, the diagnosis of diseases, the detection of important economic traits, and genomic selection in PRE Horses, among others.

ANCCE organized this visit within the scope of its Promotion and Communication Plan.  During the visit, journalists were able to see and appreciate the importance and activity generated by Purebred Spanish Horses from the headquarters in Sevilla.  At the same time, they were able to exchange data and impressions with the President of ANCCE and the Stud Book Directors.

President Jose Juan Morales points out that ANCCE is "the great unknown, despite being one of the world’s most renowned equine breeder associations and a pioneer in terms of research. From ANCCE, we irradiate activity to more than 67 countries where Purebred Spanish Horses are bred; this translates into the creation of wealth and employment, both directly and indirectly."

"Public opinion needs to know about the importance of ANCCE's work within the framework of competitions, promotion, preservation of breed purity and the PRE Breeding Program.”
